got jobs???

President Obama has a golden oppurtunity here. Help the environment by ending mountaintop removal, create jobs by requiring tunnel mining instead. He will win the little people of WV's heart by doing so (2012).

Southern W.V. wasteland!

I am logger/forester and I practice timber management in W.V. The regulations are strictly inforced on timbering in W.V. What I cant understand is why mountain top removal can desamate an entire ecosystem over and over that will never be the same for hundreds of years. Once our hardwoods and other plant life that grows and thrives on the hills and mountains of W.V. is gone. We will be out of valuable/prestine hardwood timber to cut and manage for generations to come .

For Generations to come!

I am a CA resident and can see for generations past in WV no slides or flooding. Now drought and flooding and contamination. We must take responsibility and educate our neighbors to our exceessive consumtion at what costs! I pledge to a change.

MTR needs to be outlawed

MTR needs to be completely banned and outlawed if we need to continue mining coal they will have to return to underground mining but our dependence on coal needs to be curtailed. The governor of WV needs to be made aware that the residents of his state can do more than mine coal and instead of courting the coal industry maybe he should try something that will be in demand in the future to keep the great state of WV viable into the future. In my opinion if he thinks that coal mining is all his state has to offer maybe they need a new Governor. At the least he needs to get busy taking care of WV and not himself or the coal companies.

I know coal's future looks bleak in the US. Maybe Trump will resolve this issue.

This paper looks at the possibility of coal-fired power plants in Saudi Arabia. https://papers.ssrn.com/abstract=2749596
